Let me preface this by saying I don't see any similar threads where the question I'm about to pose has already been answered...

Why does El Toro open up at noon?

I almost feel like I just broke some unwritten law by typing those last few words! I know a number of people always assumed it was because the park's carpenters had to also check Rolling Thunder's track, but now that it's obvious this is no longer the case, I think its time to revisit the question.

It just seems strange to open the newest ride (and the park's only major ride in this year's regular marketing campaign) up two hours behind the rest of the park.

To be fair (and I'm certainly not defending the park), the old management had many days they couldn't even promise a delayed opening for their latest ride (KK).

It's a good question and my best guess (since none of us know for sure right now) is that they are using the time in the morning to try and work out some issues it's been having. They did the same thing 16 years ago on another INTAMIN coaster the park had (Shockwave), where even though it was the opening season for the ride, it would open at noon every day giving the maintenance crew more time to fix all the problems.

Meh... using 10-12 is not an excuse to me. Do it from 8-10 and open it with the park!

Is this Noon opening a daily thing? (i.e. will it open at Noon tomorrow?)

They can get it open before 10. They did it for the WB11 shoot and that was at 7 AM. It was probably the only time I saw it open with the park. They were also carpenters walking the RT tracks that morning at 7. So they are telling me, they can do it for Rolling Thunder but they cant do it for El Toro. Unbelievable....

With the new signs they put up in the ticket booth, I feel we are all in a pool or something gambling to see which flat is going to go next. Its like a reality show pretty much.

I hope when it opens at 12 they at least run 2 trains. Instead of starting with one than putting the second one on later in the day.

I'm guessing the fact that they have made semi-permanent signs (like for Kingda Closures) means that it is more or less a daily occurrence.

It never was on the "closed for the year" list...Screamscape was wrong.

Ironically once the park goes to weekends only operation some of the rides which are down right now will probably FINALLY get fixed since the maintenance crews won't have as much work to do every single day inspecting every ride.

Their list does, but the list in the ticket booths (which I believe is correct) does not.
