Right by Beast and the Crypt this project is coming along. An infield lake nearby was dried up and construction has started there. Screamscape has new pics of that area being shaped up for a Sheikra like splashdown. This will be a for a Hyper coaster? Wow.

^Parks purchase coaster up to three years in advanced. It is very possible this red track is for Kings Island now that I see the splashdown already being built.
Think- by the end of this season, footers and underground electrical work will be done, and during the off-season, track is shipped and put in place for a mid to late 2009 opening.

Makes perfect sense.

Over on TPR, somebody close with the park has confirmed that it is a hyper that's going to feature a splash-type element. Looking at the photos, the trough they're building is too narrow for dive machine track and they are clearing trees well beyond the area they are prepping. I, too, thought at first that this was where the Dive Machine was going but now I don't with all of this information coming out.

Finally Cedar Fair parks are getting coasters manufactured by B&M. Have you noticed that Cedar Fair isn't B&M crazy. Especially Cedar Point with their FOUR Intamins. I mean sometimes you need a really really smooth high quality ride with great airtime!

I can't wait to see this develop. I like the idea of a Hyper with a Splashdown, but could this still possibly be a Dive Machine?

Most likely not, Dive machines are much more compact compared to what this layout looks like.

^ Yeah, I didn't think about that...

I also saw from the closeup shots of the splash pool, the "trough" going through the middle seems small for a Dive Machine; because the width of the track for a Dive Machine looks to be about 6 or so feet, while the track for a Hyper would only be around 3-4 feet, making the width of the "trough" a bit smaller.

I don't see what's so great about splashdowns personally. Hopefully it doesn't slow the ride down too much. Nevertheless, I'm excited to see what KI does here.

I heard about this last year when I was at Kings Island, this thing is going to be massive and amazing, I love that they are putting it in the back like The Beast, hopefully they dont clear too many trees so this would have an awesome forest feeling...which would deliver some nasty night rides too
