Interesting, glad I got my rides in on it while I could! I wouldn't mind seeing it down here in Carowinds, since they seem to like giving CW relocated rides. We're supposedly getting Head Spin from Geauga Lake next year...

I at least hope they let it finish out the season. Very upsetting but I had figured it was the last season for it regardless based on everything we knew from Screamscape. It will be missed. I got 2 rides last Monday and hope to get a lot more rides in before it leaves.

It is kinda sad that another old coaster from Dorney is being removed but it probably is the right move. The ride does not get great ridership and they could use something new in its place. I hope they put in a GCII wooden coaster in its spot.

That would be pretty cool. The closest GCI coasters in this area are Hershey's Lightning Racer and Wildcat. And I believe CF was happy with Renegade. Not to mention Dorney only has one woodie.

Dorney Park has sold the Laser.

The double-loop roller coaster had been listed for sale since late May with an asking price of $1.2 million, according to Tommy Coffling, owner of usedrides.com. Coffling said another broker negotiated the sale and he does not know who bought the coaster or its selling price.

It is not clear what Dorney Park intends to do with the site the Laser now occupies. Dorney Park has not returned telephone calls seeking comment on the sale.

The steel coaster, painted neon green and purple, arrived at Dorney Park in 1986 under the name Colossus. It first opened in an amusement park in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1979

June 6, 1986: VIPs get thrills as Dorney Park introduces Colossus Laser is a portable roller coaster that is anchored to the ground by tanks of water. The ride, which stands 93 feet tall and 2,200 feet long, can be transported on 26 trailers, according to its page on usedrides.com.

With the loss of Laser, Dorney Park will still have seven other thrill rides, including six coasters.
