^ I agree about not liking the all-dark approach. The ONLY part that I DO like the all-dark approach (and REALLY do like it) is going up the lift and down the first drop. I think after the first hill/turn other effects should come in to play.

Skull Mountain would be awesome if they turned the strobes back on! Add some fog in there too!

I agree why was the strobes even shut off

They broke and couldn't afford a new light bulb.

What? They work, from time to time they use them. I've gotten maybe twenty rides last year with hem on.

He was kidding...or at least I hope. I can't remember if I rode Skull Mountain last year with the strobes or not. I know the music and a few colored lights were on, but I can't remember whether the strobes were ever on or not during any of my rides...

I've never ridden Skull Mountain with the strobes on!

If you ask the ride operator he/she would most likely turn them on.

Yes, I was kidding about the bulb breaking.

Do operators really have control over things like that?

Yes. The ride op has control over all of the rides effects, although (when set to) they are activated automatically by the rides computer. But he/she can also turn them on or off manually. This also includes the normal lighting in the main coaster room.

Then why would the ops care and why would they turn it off?

I think this is why people from the site seem to get hired so easilly, they care about the park!

Because some people have epilepsy.

I realize that epilepsy is a serious condition but doesn't it say on every ride sign that if you have epilepsy or photo-sensitivity that you shouldn't ride because of some of the effects. I mean, you shouldn't really turn off the strobes for one person when the ride is meant to be enjoyed to it's fullest by all of the guests. I know everyone should get to ride, but if a ride is designed a certain way, every guest should get to enjoy it the way it's intended. It clearly says if you have certain ailments/conditions you shouldn't ride so I don't think it's fair to ask for effects to be shut off.

Couldn't they just say you need to notify the op if you have that and they could turn the effects off for that 1 train?

I got a bunch of rides on Skull Mountain last year where I was the only one on the train, if I asked, would they turn the lights on if I was the only rider? Even though I know the layout of the ride and have seen all the props (I think), I'd like to get a lights on ride.

I didn't think guests have a say on the matter like it's Burger King. I don't believe the effects except the original ones are very sophisticated.

Personally I just wish they would have the effects that are on the ride now working, including the waterfall outside. I've been there several times now and have yet to see the waterfall out front working, I've seen pictures so I know there is a waterfall!

I should feel lucky that every time I rode most if not all the effects were on and working though my last visit I don't believe the strobes were on or the music, which made me sad because I thought the music was the best part.

I think a relatively inexpensive way to improve it would be add fog after you crest the lift hill so you're dropping into a fog bank. Other than that, it's a great ride as it is and as long as they keep the effects ON that the ride does have (water, strobes, lights on the pumpkin and hanging skeleton/ghoul thing, etc, it's just fine for now.

It doesn't need to be improved, but there are MANY possibilities in that area. It has really good theme elements (skulls, indian shields, creepy station), but once you enter the main ride room, it just looses all of that.

What about TDK? The queue for SM is amazing.

I consider that to be a pre show not a queue on TDK. It is a nice queue though!
