or even simply a nice overhaul of RT.

I would love to see that happen in the future. I am hoping that is what ends up happening, instead of RT going for good...

People seem to keep forgetting that Rolling thunder received a MAJOR rehab not long ago where the entire 180 turn around was just about completely demolished (except the lower supports) and rebuilt from scratch.

How long ago was that?

That's weird! I looked in The Rolling Thunder Spotlight over at Great Adventure History and there was no mention of a major rehab or reconstruction!Posted Image

There was work done in 2009 and possibly early 2010. They had 1 side closed often because of track work (I forget which)

There are rumors that one side of American Eagle @ SFGam will be running backwards for next year. Maybe RT might get the same?

Whatever happened to PTC not allowing it? I don't see why they would just revert back to allowing it.

thats odd because it happened i want to say 2004 because kk wasnt there....rolling thunder was closed for the first part of the season a reopened later because of it....i remember seeing most of the 180 turn around demolished and it started huge speculation of people thinking they were taking it down even though the park said they were just retracking it

That's why I thought it can't happen as well. I know Knoebels doesn't follow PTC's guidelines but that is an independent park but if SF was going to go against PTC and then void the warranty or have PTC refuse to service the trains, I can't imagine they would do that with all the coasters running PTC trains in the entire chain.

Its been confirmed by an organization who released a video, but took it down later, that it will run backwards starting August 8th. Maybe PTC is going to allow it again?

Out of curiosity, why does PTC not allow parks to run trains backwards? Are they not tested for it or is it not good for the trains or what?

Supposedly because of this:
"PTC advised parks to only run their trains forward because backwards operation altered the effects on the rider (due to their slightly offset position in the train from their forward-facing position) and because it would eliminate their ability to prepare for upcoming maneuvers (which was a selling point of the idea in the first place)."

^ That is one attraction I would NOT ride. RT's painful enough when I know where I'm going....
