As you've probably heard, media day was cancelled and will be rescheduled. The NJ state ride inspector kept failing to show up to inspect the ride, so Six Flags couldn't allow riders on.

The season pass preview and public opening are most likely being pushed back. We're waiting on an announcement from the park on new dates.

Here's the footage provided by the park for Zumanjaro: Drop of Doom.

Interesting.  So maybe this is a silly question, but how did they hold the "commercial shoot" day for the footage above, if the ride hasn't been given its permit yet?  Was a temporary permit given for the purpose of the shoot?

It was park employees who were able to ride for the commercial

^^The Six Flags construction team, maintenance team, and engineering team all cleared the ride as safe to ride, which is why employees were able to ride for the shoot.  But like Kaiser said they were waiting for the final stamp of approval from the inspector (who never showed up).

Cool, thanks guys!  Ridiculous that the inspector isn't showing up.  The ride is finally ready and now the park will take another PR hit on something that isn't their fault this time!

^Wait, was that behind the scenes, or not? I don't think it was ever definitively stated :)

But seriously, super excited for the eventual opening in the next few years. Thanks for posting.

So is there any chance that it will open this weekend??
Also if Zumanjaro is closed does Kingda Ka still operate?

The park is definitely playing it by ear. Once the state inspector comes and checks off the ride, the park will definitely conjure up some days to have a season-pass preview and then finally open up the ride to the general public.

IMO, Zumanjaro may or may not affect Ka's closure. For instance, if the ride is stuck mid-cycle, Ka wouldn't be able to cycle trains since the state requires staggered dispatches (meaning Ka and Zumanjaro cannot run at the same time). However, if Zumanjaro is closed, Ka would run normally without having to worry about staggered dispatches.

I was hoping that the park was going to be able to get that resolved where both rides could run at the same time. Hopefully it won't lower the capacity of both rides that much.

Rode Zumanjaro today. They were staggering the Kingda Ka launches and Zumanjaro cycles. Two Kingda Ka trains would launch, and then Zumanjaro went. This was alright until Zumanjaro broke down. I was in line for Kingda Ka and the ride could not launch because Zumanjaro needed to test -- and when it tested, the ride stalled at the top of the drop. This is really frustrating -- Lex Luthor doesn't have this issue, does it? The GP was very frustrated and commenting on how it was  bad design.
