Guests
will take a trip back into the American West in Frontier
Adventures. It most certainly is the "wild"
west, with four coasters, a log flume and countless
other attractions. The most famous part of Frontier
Adventures is the fort which houses the station for
Runaway Train and the loading area for Sky Way. This
structure dates back to the opening of the park in
1974.
Highlighting
the area is Medusa, the world's first floorless coaster
and the second of the park's four Bolliger and Mabillard
designed coasters. However, since its addition in
1999, no new attraction has been built in the area.
In 2006, Runaway Train received a new color scheme
and new trains.
Though
once one of the largest and most popular areas of
the park, Frontier Adventures changed in 2006 when
its area was split in half by the creation of Plaza
del Carnaval. Rolling Thunder, which once defined
Frontier Adventures, is now in a new section of the
park themed to a Mexican carnaval.
