Queue lines. Despite the fact that everyone knows Six Flags Great
Adventure can get some of the longest lines in the entire country, you
can still ride every ride in a single day without having to use some of
the park's fancy methods such as the "Flash Pass". You just need to
plan to visit the park during a certain time of the year which will
work best for you, know what hours you should hit rides, and which
hours you should eat.
First, know the park's operation hours. This may
seem so obvious, but if you know what time the park opens it will give
you an advantage over the many guests who don't. The park regularly
opens at 10:30am, but most guests don't arrive until around noon. Second,
know in advance which rides are closed. There is no point in running
over to Congo Rapids to see that it is not open. Several boards and
information desks show what rides are not in operation at park entrance.
Get to the park early! The first hour of park operation is always the
least busy, especially on those warm summer days. If the park opens at
10:30am, arrive at the park by 9:45am, to ensure that you are right at
the ropes for the opening. This is a prime time to hit the key rides
first such as Kingda Ka, El Toro, The Dark Knight, and any new rides
for that season. Also, this is a key opportunity to hit the water rides
on a summer day before they become extremely busy when the temperature
is soaring.

Certain times of the day are better for eating than others. Always try
to catch your morning meal before you come to the park, which will give
you more time to experience the Great Adventure instead of trying to
refuel yourself. Always eat lunch early. Most guests will eat lunch
between 12-2pm, which normally can cut down on ride lines as well. For
dinner, always eat after 8pm, as everyone has all ready eaten. This
gives you the perfect chance to hop in line and grab food without any
wait. The top food area in the park for Great Adventure enthusiasts is
the Best of the West, which is located behind the Log Flume.
For
those who wish to save money, bring your own food and save it in your
car using a cooler. Even though you cannot bring food or drinks into
the theme park, you can easily get your hand stamp to re-enter the park
and grab a snack at your car. This will help save money as well as help
with the picky eaters as they all ready know what they are going to
get! Another idea is to go to one of the nearby fast food restaurants
on Route 537 when you leave. They are open late and aren't more than a
5 minute drive from the exit.

Everyone dreads these hours when they visit any theme park. On most average days
at the park, lines will grow to their peaks between 1-3pm. We
understand that most guests go for the bigger rides, but this is a
chance where you can rather go watch one of the tons of shows the park
has to offer, or enjoy some of the smaller attractions in the park.
Rides like Kingda Ka, El Toro, Nitro, and The Dark Knight will gain
lines over a hour long, while during this time rides like the Fantasy
Fling, the Big Wheel, and Twister will be under ten minutes..

The crowds usually reduce drastically during the final hours of the
park. Field trippers and families with young children normally head
home as it grows later into the evening. This is a great opportunity to
get on rides you may have skipped because of long queue lines. Also,
after the park hours have passed, it does not mean the park has
officially closed. It has mean all rides' queue lines become closed. If
you get in line before it closes, you will still get to ride that
attraction.
Also, during this time of the night in the summer,
the new spectacular "Glow in the Park Parade" will be performing. It is
one of the top shows during the night life at the park that everyone
can enjoy!

The best times to visit the park are during the early Spring, around
April and May. Even though the park's newest attraction may not be
ready to be open to the public yet, all the other favorites will still
be in operation with the smallest queues of the entire season! If you
cannot go to the park during this time of the season, you should visit
during early September. By then, most children are back to school and
the park becomes empty as well! This is also the time period where the
park starts hanging decorations for it's Halloween event; Fright Fest.
During the summer when the park is open all week, the best days to
visit are Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Always try to bring as few items into the theme park as possible. Great
Adventure has a zero-tolerance policy on bringing items into lines and
attractions without being secured and fastened. If you must bring your
wallet, cell phone, digital camera, or anything in that mix, we
strongly suggest to bring a zipper pocket to make sure the safety of
your items. If you can not, we suggest you buy a all day locker where
you can store your stuff and reuse over and over.
