On July 1st, 1974, people journeyed into a new world created by the
imaginative and creative Warner Leroy. This world was Great Adventure. With larger
than life scenery elements, thrilling rides, and a large drive-thru
safari, the new park quickly became a premiere destination with its key
location between Philadelphia and New York. The park was originally
planned to be bigger and more elaborate, but its acquisition by Six
Flags in 1977 ended this though.
