TRIP TIPS

When you go to Great Adventure, you have to have a plan of attack. There are different times of the day to go, for example, never go right in the middle of the day, that is when it is the most crowded. The two best times to arrive at the park is either at 10 AM (and stay until about 4 or 5), or about 4 PM (and stay until closing). This gives you some time when it is not so crowded to get on the big rides. Many good rides that aren't coasters (imagine that) are right next to or near the big coasters, so you can hit them when you are in the area. Always eat a meal at an odd time (Lunch at 3, or Dinner at 4). This lets you get ahead of the crowds when they are all eating. Here are some other helpful hints:

  • Be sure to check out the park map once you get inside the park to find out where everything is. You will find it very helpful when you exit an attraction and want to know where to go next.
  • Be sure to choose a meeting place for your party once you enter the park. Great spots for this include the fountain in the entrance plaza or at the entrance to Looney Tunes Seaport.
  • Don't forget about the water rides the park has to offer! They are great things to try out when that New Jersey summer heat is beating down on you.
  • Try out the larger/popular rides or attractions early in the day when the wait times are at their lowest.
  • If you wish to purchase souvenirs inside the park, try to wait until the end of your visit to do this.
  • Pick up a show schedule at the information booth in the entrance plaza before you go any further. You will find it helpful when you pass by some of the stadiums and want to know when the next showing is.
  • If they are needed for your party, be sure to rent strollers and wheel chairs early in the morning before they are all taken. You can do this near the main entrance.
  • Keep in mind that strollers cannot be taken inside rides, shows, and exhibits. Most attractions have designated "stroller areas" where you may leave them. Do not leave valuables unattended.
  • Secure loose articles! When going on some of the more intense rides, be sure to take advantage of the storage cubbies in the stations. You may leave loose items here and pick them up when you return.
  • Shows usually last approximately 20 to 30 minutes. Stadiums open 30 to 60 minutes before each show time to allow guests to grab the seats they want. There will usually be some sort of entertainment going on while you are waiting for the show to begin.
  • If you are interested in putting out the money, Fast Lane is a great way to reduce your waiting time.
