Jim (February 10th, 2009) --

The tallest roller coaster ever built at Six Flags Great Adventure when it opened in April of 2001; Nitro is arguably the best Bolliger & Mabillard megacoaster ever built! She stands at an amazing 230 feet tall, 23 stories in the air, and to this day still stands as the tallest lift-hill roller coaster at the park! One of the great mysterious coasters of all time the only element nitro gives away to her anxious awaiting passengers is her VERY tall lift hill before disappearing into the woods behind the park. So what exactly can you expect in the woods of New Jersey? How about a 215 foot tall 80 mph first drop followed up with four air-time packed camelbacks, a B&M signature hammerhead and an intense 540 degree upward helix…so intense in fact its been known to cause blackouts for a brief second! And after all the bliss you hit the brakes and everyone is clapping from the amazing experience, only to find out that its not over yet! After the mid-ride brake run the ride takes you through three more airtime filled camelbacks before returning to the station. Did we mention this is all with just a lap-bar? Since its second year in operation Nitro has consistently ranked in the top 10 of the most critically acclaimed roller coaster polls every year! Indeed, Nitro is not only a must-ride but a must re-ride at Six Flags Great Adventure!
